Tomakomai is one of the largest industrial hub cities in northern Japan, with a port and airport, excellent transportation access, a cool climate, and a concentration of a wide variety of industries.
Description
In Tomakomai, various demonstration experiments and feasibility studies on renewable energy, hydrogen, CCUS, and other carbon-neutral technologies are being conducted. In addition, in August 2020, Tomakomai declared itself a "Zero Carbon City" aiming for zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050, and established the Tomakomai CCUS Zero Carbon Promotion Council, where industry-academia-government collaboration is underway.
